Candidate for Bexar County commissioner proposes third loop to alleviate congestion

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A candidate for  Bexar County Commissioner says we need a third loop around the San Antonio area to alleviate traffic congestion.

Republican businessman Weston Martinez is vying to replace Commissioner Kevin Wolff who has announced he will not seek reelection to the Precinct 3 office.

“We want to make sure that we’re fiscally conservative.  We want to make sure we’re not taxing people out of their homes and that they’re not stuck in the same traffic for 20 years,” Martinez told KTSA News.

As far as traffic is concerned, Martinez says all options are on the table, including a possible third loop, in addition to 410 and 1604.

“I want to build a third loop around Bexar County in the North Side of San Antonio starting from Bandera Road to IH 10, and IH 10 to 281, and 281 to IH 35,” said Martinez.

He also said he would call for an audit of the Bexar County Sheriff’s office.

“We’ve got inmates that are supposed to be locked up and they’re being released .  As a business owner, I want a full outside audit to find out what’s happening at the Bexar County Sheriff’s office,” Martinez told KTSA News.

He said precinct 3 is his home turf.

“I went to Marshall High School, so I’ve been in the district a long time.  My wife works in the district and I work in the district,” he said.
